πŸͺ– Bani Walid ‘under seige’ one year after the death of Colonel Gaddafi πŸ‡±πŸ‡Ύ

TEMPLATE REPORT

BaniΒ Walid, a former Gaddafi stronghold, remains to be ‘liberated’, one year after the capture andΒ murder of the Libyan dictator, the new regime has admitted.

Speaking on Libyan television late on Friday,Β Β Libyan leader Mohammed MagariefΒ said the new regimeΒ had struggled to impose their authority on a country awash with weapons.

The national congress leaderΒ claimedΒ the town of BaniΒ Walid, some 160 kmsΒ (100 miles) south of Tripoli, had become a ‘safehaven’ for those who were ‘outside the law.’

He blamedβ€œdelays” in the formation of the army and police and the failure to disarm and integrate former rebels for the chaos in Libya.

β€œThe campaign to liberate the country has not been fully completed.

β€œ…the spread of chaos that has lured the old regime to infiltrate the country’s institutions inside and to conspire with the regime loyalists on the outside.

β€œAnd the chaos has lured others to kidnappings, stealing, and to create non-legitimate prisons. What has happened in BaniΒ Walid in the last few days falls under this … it has become a safe haven for a large number of those who are outside of the law.”

Militias, aligned with the Defence Ministry, have shelled the hilltop town of 70,000 for several days. Many of those in the militias were from the rival town of Misrata,Β thatΒ are angryΒ at the death of rebel fighter OmranΒ ShabanΒ (pictured above) after two months in detention in BaniΒ Walid.

Shaban, from Misrata, was the man who found Colonel Muammar Gaddafi hiding in a drain pipe in Sirte on October 20, 2011.

Libya’s congress ordered the Defence and Interior Ministries to find those responsible for abducting ShabanΒ and suspected of torturing him to death.

It gave BaniΒ Walid a deadline to hand them over.

πŸͺ– US Ambassador to Libya killed in Benghazi embassy Attack πŸ‡±πŸ‡Ύ

TEMPLATE ANALYSIS

Anyone who met Christopher Stevens said he was a very nice man who had a lot ofΒ time for you. He was also proud of the role he had taken in ousting Colonel Gaddafi and in helping the Transitional National Council into Tripoli.

So, it is a cruel irony that heΒ has beenΒ killed in a country he helped to free, in the place where the rebellion began andΒ of courseΒ on the eleventh anniversary of those infamous attacks on America.

The cause for the rocket attacks on the US consulate in Benghazi is a film that clearly insults the Prophet Muhammad and the Muslim Brotherhood of EgyptΒ have today called forΒ worldwideΒ condemnation ofΒ the movie made by Israeli film maker Sam Bacile.

Post-Gaddafi Libya has of course been a disaster with the ruling government in Tripoli largely ignored asΒ armed gangs control large parts of the capital, and outside.

Libya is in danger of breaking into three – all of which calls into question Nato’s decision to intervene as Gaddafi’s Libyan forces were amassed outside Benghazi.

Yesterday’sΒ brutal actionsΒ that resulted in the deaths ofΒ Stevens and three other consular members have been condemned by Hilary Clinton. This was, of course,Β the same Hilary Clinton who jumped for joy on hearing of Colonel Gaddafi’s death.

An insurgent rocket attack on a US air base in Afghanistan has damaged the plane of America’s top military officer.

Gen Martin Dempsey, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff had arrved in the country following a spate of ‘green on blue’ kiilings.

He was not near the plane at the time.

However, two US maintenance crew were slightly injured.

The attack happened late on Monday night at the US air base in Bagram.

Gen Dempsey had arrived on Monday in a C-17 transport aircraft which was parked at Bagram.

Gen Martin Dempsey, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, had met Nato commanders and officials for talks after the death of a Nato soldier on Sunday who was shot dead by an Afghan in a police uniform.

The soldier was the 10th US soldier to die in this way in two weeks.

Two American soldiers were killed in another incident on Friday.

And six were killed in a single day on 10 August.

Some 130,000 (“blue”) Nato troops are fighting insurgents in Afghanistan, alongside 350,000 (“green”) Afghans.

So far, 40 members of the  International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) personnel – most of the victims Americans – have been killed by members of the Afghan security forces this year.

There were 35 such deaths in all of 2011

A statement from Nato’s Isaf force said shrapnel from “an indirect fire round” had damaged the plane as well as a Nato helicopter.

The general was in his room at the time of the attack, according to officials.

Nato has “15 days of supplies left” to sustain Afghan war

04 Sunday Dec 2011

America and her Nato allies have fifteen days of supplies left to sustain her war effort, Pakistan’s former spy chief claimed in an interview broadcast on RussiaToday.

Hamid Gul, who was previously the head of the ISI, said Nato had “shot iself in the foot” after an airstrike that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers.

As a “professional soldier” he knew that the control of the supplyline was key and now was the time for Pakistan to “stand firm”, and offer to help in an orderly withdrawal of the American troops from Afghanistan.

America was “lieing” when it said that it could create an alternative supply line, and if countries such as Tajikistan were to help they would have to deal with the “spill over” of an irregular war.

With the closure of the Shamsi air base for drone strikes, any “secret understanding” between the two countries was no longer there and would mean a huge decrease in the scale of those strikes.

With Pakistan holding the cards, he argued that she would lay down four conditions.

* India does not become the new “proxy power”, something he said that would be a disaster for all the regional powers, “especially China”

*Pakistan should accepted into the nuclear club, in the same way as India.

*To settle the Kashmir issue, according to the wishes of her people

*A scaling down of the highly militarisied American embassy in Kabul.

After that, Pakistan should only open the supply line to ensure a orderly withdrawal.

However, he claimed whilst mosr Americans wanted a withdrawal,  there were too many interests – political, corporate and narcotic – that did not want this to happen.

Nato Airstrike kills 24 Pakistani Soldiers

Was the latest incident involving Pakistan and her troubled alliance with the United States of America the result of a Nato emboldened by her success in Libya?

There are many – not just Pakistan’s public – who believe so.

The attack on a border post was, according to Pakistan, unprovoked and she reserves the right to hit back at a time of her choosing.

Nato’s response has not been very convincing for someone who has effectively declared warΒ on her hitherto ally.

She, like America believes the root of her troublesΒ in Afghanistan lie in Islamabad and more precisely with the Pakistan secret service, the ISI.

The Western allies are wrong –Β the Taliban are fueled by resentment at foreign occupation of theirΒ country, how else can they call on people to fight and die for them?

So far,Β Pakistan’s weak civilian government has cut supply lines to nato – hardly a problem now since most of what they need comes through Uzbekistan -andΒ given the US fifteen days to leave a base used to launch drone strikes.

Unfortunately, this will not be enough –Β Pakistan’s military know that there is a perception that they have been seen to beΒ weak, and that a clear demonstration may be neededΒ to warn off Nato, and to more importantly appease herΒ very angry public.

πŸͺ– Colonel Gaddafi is stripped, paraded and executed (and its all gone viral) πŸ‡±πŸ‡Ύ

Β

Β

In the wreckage of the country that he had built from nothing, he pleaded for mercy, but brutes don’t understand what that means.

The men who had cornered the fallen dictator of Libya now set about humiliating him.

Never mind that he was a 69 year old man who barely possessed his full faculties.

Never mind also that everything he loved had been taken away from him at the last count he has lost three of sons and of course his adopted daughter in a previous bombing raid.

The men who cornered him and those who support them claim to be Muslims, they say that they understand what God’s last Prophet taught a community that now embraces perhaps a quarter of the earth’s population.

Islam does not permit cold blooded executions, or the celebration of some one’s death.

NATO says this has nothing to do with them, in the same way that British and American secret service claimed the downfall of Mossediq and his consequent humilation had nothing to do with them.

That was a lie, as is the lie that is currently being perpetrated by Cameron and Sarkozy.

They have blood on their hands, perhaps the blood of many who have perished in this pointless enterprise.

One day the world may live to regret the actions of these foolish and reckless men who in their vanity believe that they have a divine mission to bringΒ democracy to those who have never tasted it.

The people of Iran never forgot how their leader was humiliated all those years ago and the reaction came in 1979 with the establishment of a Islamic state.

That may yet happen in the chaos that is now Libya.
