The Syrian conflict cost over 76,000 lives in 2014, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Of that 3,501 were children with a total of over 17, 790 civilian deaths. Meanwhile in Iraq some 15,000 people were killed making last year the deadliest since 2007. ISIS and related groups were responsible for much of the violence in both countries.

Israeli warplanes have hit two targets in Syria, including an area close to the International Airport in Damascus, Syrian State TV says. The other target is reported to be the town of Dimas, near the Lebanese border.
There are no immediate reports of casualties. Israel has not commented on the report.
