HASAKAH – The northeast Syrian city is occupied by Kurdish YPG who have recently taken the Syrian border town of Manbij. As part of the war against DAESH the Kurds backed by US air power also hold Kobane and Rojava. Obama has ruled out using ground troops in the Syrian conflict. Damascus which is backed by Russia, China and Iran regards all Syrian territory as sovereign. Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah whose troops are fighting alongside Syrian troops recently said the outcome of the Syrian conflict could be a new state.
