More than 20 countries – including France and Russia – say the deportations of Armenians by the Ottoman Empire in WW1 was ‘genocide’. Turkey denies there was a systematic attempt to wipe out a population.

ANKARA – Joe Biden’s comments during a visit to Turkey were made on the eve of the latest round of Syria peace talks which begin on Monday. Turkey said it would not accept a Kurdish presence at the Geneva talks.
