ANALYSIS – Even at the height of fascism, there were individuals who were prepared to take a stand against evil. That is the lesson from this astonishing picture that was posted on tumblr and it is clearly something that we should remember especially now after the latest terror outrage in a western capital. Terrorists never speak for a community or a religion but the damage their actions do to the people whose cause they claim to represent far outweighs any perceived benefit. That was the result of the unprecedented attacks in New York more than a decade ago, and will no doubt be the result now as Muslims all over Europe are attacked physically and verbally because of the assault by terrorists that brought Paris to a standstill. There were many people in the Muslim and Third Worlds who watched the scenes of mass protest unfolding on their screens on Sunday with deep unease – along with the crowds were leaders of nations like Israel, whose army has butchered many many more Palestinians than all the combined terrorist outrages since 9/11 combined, not to mention Gulf state leaders, as well as Francois Hollande himself who has launched a number of wars in Africa and the Middle East since taking office some two years ago. Everyone gathered on Sunday were of course defending the principle of freedom of speech but there’s a far more important ideal and that’s the freedom to life and to have dignity in living your life. And that is something that’s been ignored here as the West has launched numerous wars in the Middle East, Africa and Asia killing many and ruining the lives even more whilst turning the heat on people they barely understand that are in their midst. Anyone who thinks this too extreme may want to read Rupert Murdoch’s tweet on Muslims, this is the same Murdoch who is the most powerful media baron in the world, and who has like minded former employees working in government and state broadcasters such as the BBC, the same BBC who still finds it necessary to constantly question Muslims as last night’s McCarthyist witchhunt of a Panorama programme showed. The great thing of course is that there are great individuals like the man in the picture above who are prepared to make a stand – in this case that individual was JK Rowling, for everyone’s sake – yours, your children as well as the defenceless Muslim community in Europe – be like them.

ANALYSIS – This is the chilling moment that the gunmen who attacked the Paris offices of the French satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo, changed from maniacs on a mission to just maniacs.
Having killed the editor and chief cartoonist, as well as opening fire on a number of other people in the office, one of the assailants turns his weapon on a policeman who pleads for his life.
The policeman is executed and with that vanishes any pretence that these men were soldiers fighting in the path of God. One of them may have uttered that God is Great and proclaimed that he had avenged the Prophet, but neither God or his last Prophet would ever condone the murderous actions of these three men, for God is love and his last Prophet conducted every moment of his life with the awareness that every life is precious before the sight of God.
