HEBRON – Israel says the 17-YEAR-OLD Palestinian stabbed a paramilitary officer before being shot dead. At least 186 Palestinians have been killed since October 1.
WEST BANK – Eyad Sajideh, 22, was killed after Israeli troops entered Qalandia Refugee camp, east of Jerusalem. Four others injured. Eyad was a media student.
UN PANEL says Julian Assange should be freed and compensated. Assange, 44, has been in exile at London’s Ecuadorian embassy since 2012. Sweden has issued an arrest warrant on Assange for alleged sexual assault. Assange fears he will extradited to the US. The wiki leaks founder released classified US documents. Despite the UN’s findings, the UK says he still faces arrest whilst Sweden says the UN panel holds no legal basis.
WEST BANK – Girl was killed outside settlement that the rest of the world regards as illegal. Israel says she was trying to stab a guard. At least 160 Palestinians have been killed since October 1. The government of Sweden and Human rights groups have accused Israel of carrying out extrajudicial killings.
SANAA – Ban ki Moon, UN Secretary General, had said the use of cluster bombs was a war crime. Human Rights Watch said Saudi Arabia used cluster bombs January 6 on a rebel held area of Sanaa.
ABOVE – This is the first picture of Uday, 22, who was killed during protests over Israel’s occupation and settlement programme in Palestine. His sister Dania was killed by Israel on her way back from school a month earlier. Gaza remains surrounded by Israel’s military. At least 120 Palestinians have been killed by Israel since October 1.
JERUSALEM – Israel has released the body of schoolgirl Hadeel Awaad, 14, who was shot dead by an Israeli policeman on November 22. Her cousin Norhan, 16, who was wounded has been charged with attempted murder. They lived in Qalandia Refugee camp in Ramallah. Hadeel’s brother was killed by Israel during protests two years earlier. Israel says they were attacking a man they thought was an Israeli with scissors. Israel’s occupation of East Jerusalem, West Bank and Gaza is illegal under international law. Israel’s military and armed settlers continue to operate without any international condemnation, whilst Palestinians continue to suffer under the daily humiliation of occupation.
