ANALYSIS – Lord Ahmed rang me on Monday to find out what he was supposed to have said or done.

He had a string a text messages, all of which he did not understand.

Well, apparently you said something about Obama, came the reply.

I never said anything about Obama.

You need to be saying that right now, and not to me, because there is talk about sanctions against you, that include stripping you of your peerage.

Sure enough, he was on the line to the BBC Asian Network, and then later BBC News.

By the end of the day, he was suspended from the Labour Party, as they investigated claims in a Pakistani newspaper that he had offered to raise a £10m bounty for US Presidents Obama and Bush.

From what I know of Lord Ahmed, he never has any money, so the thought that he could find £10m means he definitely owes me a few cups of tea.

More seriously of course it is outrageous for anyone to offer rewards to kill people.

So what exactly have Obama, and Bush before him, doing.

It all began with that ‘Wanted – Dead or Alive’ poster for Osama bin laden, carried on with those infamous pack of cards with the Ace in the Hole being Saddam Hussein.

Obama took everything a step forward with targeted assassinations, which are violations of a nation’s sovereignty as well as cold-blooded murder under the guise of drone strikes or in the case of bin Laden, a special operation.

Many, many people have died in these strikes because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, and no one has stood trial like that maniac is currently doing in Norway.

Let’s not forget also that the leaders of minor third-rate powers like France, Britain and Turkey have followed suit to either make threats or more against much weaker nations, interventions that have cost many, many lives.

So, if Lord Ahmed has to explain himself, then what about Obama and Bush – as well as Sarkozy, Cameron and of course Erdogan, who is currently allowing rebels to use his border as a base to attack Syria.
