ANALYSIS – ย Uruguay were a disaster in their opening game against Costa Rica and today we all found out why – Luis Suarez wasn’t in the side. There were shades of Maradona in his performance, first meeting a brilliantly lofted ball with an outstanding header and then a killer conversion just as England were beginning to dominate after Rooney had stepped in an equaliser. Suarez’s second goal was perhaps his best because it came from nothing – it was pure anticipation, expecting the ball to come and getting into the right place to sink a hapless England.
Uruguay didn’t give England the luxury of playing freely like Italy had done in the first game and that approach worked for them for most of the first half, but it wasn’t until a moment of magic from Suarez that they looked like winning.
In the second half, Uruguay had several chancesย – including Suarez catching Joe Hart off his goal line for a second time off a corner – but as long as there was only a single goal between the two England were in with a chance.
Trouble is, as Balotelli showed at Manaus, and Suarez did here at Sao Paulo, class counts – and England’s overpaid Premier League players just don’t cut it on the international stage.

ANALYSISย England attacked the opposition yesterday, they gave it a go and eventually lost to an Italy team that didn’t get out of first gear because they had a striker that could make a difference between the sides – Mario Balotelliย – and an ageing but very impressive man at the heart of the action, one Andrea Pirlo.
There were positives to the performance but the truth is England’s players were not the finished article when it came to the box. All the energy and hardwork came to nothing and the longer the game went on the less likely they looked like scoring.
There was a mixture of experience and youth in the England ranks, but Gerrard and Rooney compared poorly when you look at 35-year-old Pirlo and the way in which he virtually ran the game. Here, was a player whose dummy set up the second goal who was at centre of most things through out the game and who even managed to hit the bar with a spectacular free kick in the closing stages. In contrast, Gerrard and Rooney didn’t even get close to troubling the goalkeeper – most of their shots were way out, Gerrard’s freekick in the last ten minutes was poor.
Of the younger players, there were many good things but you can’t make snap judgments on fresh individuals, that can only come with time as young talent carves out a permanent place to create a great side which England are sadly not at this moment.
However,ย in Brazil 2014 at the present time after an energetic and fearless performanceย it is fair to say England will have a good chance against Uruguay and Costa Rica, and may even progress into the next round but don’t expect them to fare well if and when they come up against an opposition that can field quality opposition players like Italy were able to last night with Balotelli and Pirlo.

ANALYSIS – At the beginning of last century when the areas now known as the federally administered territories were under the loose control of the British Empire, Winston Churchill used a new technique to pacify the rebellious tribes – bombing.
The Pathans of the North West Frontier never accepted outside rule then, especially when they were not Muslims.
When the nation of Pakistan was formed they were the first to offer their allegiance to the newly created Islamic republic.
But they never changed their ways and customs – lawlessness is and has always remained part of their way of life.
The question is will they finally behave now that they have the threat of the Pakistan army hanging over them.
Using first rate intelligence and backing it up with a single deadly airstrike or a bullet from an assassin, Pakistan’s military has pushed the ‘Pakistan Taliban’ to the the negotiating table. But the attacks have continued with a horrendous assault on a courtroom in Islamabad which brought today’s warning from Pakistan military that a full scale operation could be launched as early as this month if there is no end to the violence.
The people of Pakistan have already made their feelings clear about what should happen to the so called Tehreek e Taliban, even the politicians are united on this issue.
Only Nawaz Sharif who has attempted to bring them with in the political process has stood in the way.
The first wave of deadly Pakistan operations began after a number of Pakistani soldiers were beheaded by the Taliban. A pause in operations came after the Taliban leadership clearly afraid for their lives announced they were ready to talk.
A splinter group has been blamed for the courthouse attack, but that will not be good enough if there are any further atrocities. The question is of course have the lawless tribes finally got the message.

Brazil 2014, England, England v Denmark, football, International Friendly, Roy Hodgson, World Cup 2014
ANALYSIS –ย Denmark is clearly rebuilding its football team – that was obvious to everyone who watched England’s unsatisfying 1-0 win at Wembley Stadium last night. They are not going to the World Cup in 98 days time. Trouble is, its Roy Hodgson’s team of unlikely lads that have that dubious pleasure. England showed no sign that they have moved on from the European debacle, when a flat and tired looking side folded as soon as they faced the first real opposition in the competition, namely Italy. This England side doesn’t look tired but it is still flat, lacks imagination and creativity at the front, and frankly appears clueless – each player struggling to find a role in a side that still hasn’t cemented into a team capable of going beyond the qualifying stages of a major tournament. Of course, there aren’t any great teams out there, but England are floundering and Roy Hodgson’s comments that he felt the national side were shaping up nicely show that he is either deluded or plain stupid.
The Danish manager wished them good luck last night.ย On the evidence of their performance yesterday and during the last two ‘friendlies’ they are going to need a lot more than that in Brazil 2014.

Andy Flower leaves post as England cricket coach after Ashes shambles

TEMPLATE ANALYSIS
The warning signs were there a long time before last summer, that this English cricket side were living on borrowed time, that it would only take a highly focused thoroughly approach and this side would be taken apart.
Trouble was the cricket establishment that included the very dull opening batsmen that was Graham Gooch, was not listening, perhaps seduced by their superior coaching methods or even their own belief in their ability to spot up and coming talent.
Of course last summer was closer than the 3-0 result suggests, however that was not the point – in English conditions this side has as good a chance as any in world at winning a rubber. It’s when they move away from their familiar surroundings that they are found wanting. It was so against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi, in 2012, and it has proved in Australia in 2013/14.
England will be rebuilding the side, and looking to the future, but unless they start showing more creatvity to team selections, as well as bravery, they are always going to struggle against opposition that took the decisions they were afraid to do so long before they meet on a cricket field.

Contemplating failure?
TEMPLATE ANALYSIS
The last two games that this country’s national soccer side were involved in, have been cited by most commentators, even the most the patriotic ones, as a wake-up call for England’s chances when they enter the lofty heights of tournament football.
Chile, and later Germany showed, that despite fielding a ‘second-team’ against England, that they were a yard ahead in terms of class.
In the case of Chile, one outstanding player, namely Alexis Sanchez, proved to be the difference.
But perhaps, more disappointingly, against Germany Roy Hodgson’s men lacked a clear structure and were caught short on the counter on a number of occasions – the scoreline of 1-0 could easily have been two or three.
England don’t play to a game plan, and when they do they stick to it rigidly. When playing in qualifying games to major competitions that is fine, but you will always come unstuck when facing the best in Europe or the World.
And at a time, when more money than ever is going to be poured into the Premiership – thanks BTSport’s One billion pound deal – ย that only mean more failure and disappointment at an international level for England’s overpriced and overrated football ‘stars.’
