RAMADI – Six months after Ramadi fell to DAESH,  Iraqi forces are close to recovering the lost city. The operation to retake Ramadi began in November. Iraq’s army supported by Shia forces has already reclaimed Tikrit. Analysts say progress was slower this time because Iraq’s army backed by US air power did not use Shia forces.

RAMADI – US says air strikes over the last few days have hit DAESH hard. 600-1000 fighters are estimated to be inside the provincial capital of Anbar. DAESH captured Ramadi which is within reach of Baghdad in May and have remained there despite an assault by Iraqi forces backed by US air power.
