MOSUL –  US-LED Iraqi forces have moved from south east Mosul to a bridge across the River Tigress leading into the city centre. The seven week battle against DAESH has continued to be hard fought and difficult. US airstrikes is backing Iraqi and Kurdish forces. Daesh struck back with suicide attacks in Baghdad.

ALEPPO – Government forces have seized two further districts on Sunday – Haidariya and Sakhur -after the capture of the largest rebel held district in eastern Aleppo. Masaken Hanano was seized by rebels in 2012 and resulted in the dividing of Aleppo. Hundreds of people fled Masaken Hanano as it fell on Saturday.

HAIFA  – Israel has made twelve  arrests in connection with the fires that have burned for four days. PM Benjamin Netanyahu said if the fires were started deliberately they would be treated as an act of terrorism. Education minister Naftali Bennett tweeted: ‘Only those to whom the country doesn’t belong are capable of burning it.’

ISLAMABAD – Marshall Sohail Aman’s warning came after 12 civilians and three soldiers were killed by Indian firing across the Kashmir border known as the line of control. There have been numerous incidents over the past few weeks sparking fears that tensions between the two nuclear rivals may escalate into a full scale war. More than 70,000 people have been killed in Indian-occupied Kashmir since a resistance began in 1989. India blames Pakistan for instigating the trouble. The latest bout of violence started after the killing of popular separatist leader Burhan Wani by Indian forces.
