LAHORE – Pakistan Cricket Board hopes the much anticipated event will encourage test playing nations to tour the cricket mad nation again. No major test nation has toured Pakistan since an attack on a Sri Lanka Cricket team bus killed seven policemen and injured several players in 2009. Nine foreign players will be participating, with four refusing to take part. Peshawar Zalmi will be playing Lahore Gladiators in this year’s final.

ISLAMABAD -Pakistan’s military says it’s killed dozens of militants in a security crackdown following the attack at a Sufi shrine yesterday that killed 80 worshippers at Sindh. Pakistan’s military is quoted as saying 100 militants have killed in operations across the country. Pakistan has also summoned the Afghan officials to Rawalpindi and presented them with a list of 76 ‘terrorists’ harbouring on Afghan soil. The attack at the Sufi shrine is the latest in a string of incidents across Pakistan this month.

ISLAMABAD – Marshall Sohail Aman’s warning came after 12 civilians and three soldiers were killed by Indian firing across the Kashmir border known as the line of control. There have been numerous incidents over the past few weeks sparking fears that tensions between the two nuclear rivals may escalate into a full scale war. More than 70,000 people have been killed in Indian-occupied Kashmir since a resistance began in 1989. India blames Pakistan for instigating the trouble. The latest bout of violence started after the killing of popular separatist leader Burhan Wani by Indian forces.

ISLAMABAD – India says it conducted ‘surgical strikes’. Pakistan denies this saying it’s soldiers were killed in cross border shelling. 18 Indian soldiers were killed last week after an attack on army base in Indian-occupied Kashmir which New Delhi blamed on Pakistan. Islamabad denies this.

KASHMIR – Ten areas of Kashmir saw unrest after Indian security forces blocked roads to mosques on Eid. At least 70 have been killed since July 9 when Indian security forces killed rebel leader Burhan Wani, 22. Kashmiris demand the right to decide their future with most wanting to be part of Pakistan. India has dismiss these claims as ‘misguided’.

KASHMIR – One person was killed and more than fifty injured after Indian security forces fired live ammunition into a crowd of protesters. More than 67 people have been killed since the killing of popular separatist leader Burhan Wani by Indian forces a month ago. Kashmiris resent Indian occupation of their land and demand the right to choose their future. India blames Pakistan for ‘instigating’ trouble. More than 68,000 people have been killed by India since a rebellion began in 1989.
