KHARTOUM – Islamist thinker and former leader of Sudan, Hassan al Turabi helped President Omar al Bashir to power in 1989. When he was leader of Sudan, he promoted Sharia law as a means of uniting the country.  He also invited Osama bin Laden to live in Sudan.

🪖 TALIBAN REJECT AFGHANISTAN PEACE TALKS 🇦🇫

ISLAMABAD – Taliban say the US has boosted troop numbers, increased air strikes on residential areas and night raids attacks. It also said the US backed Afghan government had increased attacks on it’s fighters. The talks between the Afghan government, the US and Pakistan  in the Pakistani capital are aimed at ending the 15-year war.

PALESTINE – AMANI SABATIN, 35, was shot dead by Israel’s military. They say the mother of four was trying to hit a soldier guarding a settlement. Israel has killed at least 177 Palestinians since October 1. It says they were attacking Israel’s army and civilians.

ZIMBABWE – Robert Mugabe said his country’s diamond industry was affected by swindling and theft. He said his move to control the diamond industry would not affect trade with China. Zimbabwe, he said, had received $2bn out of $15bn made from sale of diamonds.

BRAZIL – Worst fall since 1990. BRAZIL’S economy which has suffered from falling commodity prices is expected to fall 3.5% this year. Brazil which is the seventh largest economy in the world is battling a recession and 10.67% inflation.
