ATHENSΒ – Greek Parliament unanimously voted to recognise Palestine as a state and will refer to it as such in future – and not as the Palestinian Authority. Sweden was the first European nation to recognise Palestine. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Palestine passports will be issued in 2016.

FIFA – Ethics committee banned the President over the alleged payment to UEFA boss Platini. Both men deny any wrong doing. Platini, 60, said this was a ‘masquerade’ designed to ‘blacken’ his name. Blatter, 79, said he would be fighting for himself and FIFA.

GARLICIA – Mariano Rajoy was campaigning at the city of Pontevedra where he grew up. Spain goes to the polls on Sunday in it’s general election. Rajoy’s Popular party is expected to win but may not regain a majority in parliament. Spain has been hit by years of austerity. Rajoy’s ‘attacker’ was arrested. He is 17. The incident took place outside a church on Wednesday evening.

KABUL – The Taliban claim responsibility for a car bomb attack that kills two Spanish police officers and four Afghan guards. Earlier this week, Taliban gunmen raided KANDAHAR Airport in an attack that lasted 24 hours.
