BEIRUT – Hezbollah chief Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah BELOW believes the insurgency to topple Assad was aimed at altering the Shia demographic makeup in the Middle East. He also said Hezbollah was voting for General Michel Aoun to be President in Lebanon’s election on  October 31.

KIRKUK – Daesh fighters launched a surprise attack on Kirkuk in response to Iraq’s battle to regain control of Mosul. 13 people were killed after an attack on a power plant. US-led Iraqi forces are attempting to seize the town of Hamdaniyah southeast of Mosul. Daesh have held Iraq’s second largest city since 2014. Some 1.5 million people are trapped in the fighting.

MOSUL – UN has expressed concern for the 1.5 M people living in Mosul, which is held by 7,000 to 8,000 Daesh fighters. US air power is backing Iraqi and Kurdish forces combined with US special forces.

YEMEN – US says it launched the strikes after it’s warships were hit for a second day. The rebels deny they struck US warships. Earlier in the week a Saudi airstrike killed at least 140 at funeral in Sanaa.
