Chelsea’s lead at the top cut to one point should as appears Manchester City beat Burnley.  Chelsea put in lots of energy but created very few clear cut chances – at the end a 10-man Southampton held on for the last five minutes that included four minutes of extra time.

TEMPLATE REPORT

Unconvincing display from both sides – United squandered a number of chances in the first half, but showed little else in the second. Spurs were on par with United which will disappoint Louis Van Gaal, whose side despite finishing the year at third in the Premier League table still look far behind Chelsea and Manchester City, who always manage to squeeze in a win when playing in tight games.
