Fresh exchanges across Kashmir border kills 13-year-old girl in Pakistan

Pakistan says unprovoked firing from Indian administered Kashmir has killed a girl of 13 and wounded another child in the town of Sialkot.
This is the second incident in recent days between the nuclear-armed rivals over Kashmir. Two Pakistani rangers were killed when Indian troops opened fire after being shot at which India blamed on Pakistan.

Nine dead in Canadian ‘mass murder’

Two very young children among eight members of family killed by a gun man in what police describe as ‘senseless mass murder’ linked to ‘extreme domestic violence’. The bodies were found at three locations in Edmonton, in the western province of Alberta. The bodies of seven people were found in one location. The gunman had shot himself dead. He had a list of criminal convictions dating back to 1987.
Police are not looking for anyone else and have not released names of the  deceased.

Knife obsessed loner guilty of teenage girl’s murder in 1993

Claire Tiltman, was a 16-year-old studying for her GCSEs at Dartford Grammar School. She was murdered four days after celebrating her birthday. Jurors at Inner London Court took three hours to convict Colin Ash-Smith of stabbing her to death in an alleyway in Greenhithe. Ash-Smith is already serving three life sentences for attacks on women and was warned by the Judge Mr Justice Sweeney to expect a life sentence.

‘One In Four British Girls A Victim Of Sexual Abuse’

One in four girls and one in six boys under 16 have been the victims of sexual abuse. Graham Wilmer founder of the Lantern Project believes there could be as many as 11.7 million victims of child abuse in Britain.
He said the problem was a ‘national epidemic ‘.
The NSPCC estimates that one in 20 children has been the victim of sexual abuse.
Wilmer was appointed by Home Secretary Theresa May to be on the panel of a board looking at historical cases of child abuse, which has already seen the resignation of two chairs and criticism from victims.
