KHARTOUM – Islamist thinker and former leader of Sudan, Hassan al Turabi helped President Omar al Bashir to power in 1989. When he was leader of Sudan, he promoted Sharia law as a means of uniting the country.  He also invited Osama bin Laden to live in Sudan.
