Warsaw, Group A: Poland v Russia

Poland turned the tables and all expectations in this their second Group A game against the much fancied Russians.

And after equalising the Poles looked the greater threat for the last twenty minutes of a game that will be remembered for that great goal from captain Jakub Blaszczykowski.

Russia will have learned from this experience for until the 57th minute they were well in control. Sometimes you have to accept that a game can turn on a wonderful moment and with a hostile crowd, the Russians showed great character. As for Poland, well the dream of winning this tournament is still well and truly alive, for their players have just shown they are capable of taking on one of the best teams in Europe and with a bit of luck could have even won.
