Wroclaw, Group A

Russia 4 Czech Republic 1

Powerful Russian performance in the first half meant that the Czech Republic needed a quick goal to get back into the game.

This came with in six minutes of the second half and from there onwards it was game on for the Czech’s who were always open to the break from an impressive Russian team who did not sit back on their lead and remained a threatening presence throughout the game.

Russia opened their opponents on a number of occasions in the second, however they did not make their chances count which meant that a team they were clearly far superior to were always in with a shout.

That state of affairs remained until the eighty-second minute with Russia finally finding the back of the net, to be followed a minute later with a fourth goal.

4-1 – it could have been fix or six, but anyone who wants to lift the Euro 2012 trophy should take note, they will have to deal with the Russian juggernaut first.
