A family of eight – including six children – were killed after a Nato air strike on Saturday in the eastern Afghan province of Paktia.
The deaths are reported to have occurred in the village of Suri Khail.
Nato says it is investigating the reports.
Paktia provincial spokesman Rohullah Samoon told AFP news agency: “It was an air strike conducted by Nato.
“This man [the father] had no connection to the Taliban or any other terrorist group.”
Earlier, the Nato confirmed that four of its soldiers had died in separate bomb attacks in Afghanistan on Saturday, one of which was a British soldier from the 1st Battalion, The Royal Welsh. The MoD said he had been on patrol in the Nahr-e Saraj region of Helmand province when his vehicle was hit by a bomb.
